Building in public is good advice that often curdles into something else: a feed of milestones, a pressure to perform progress. I’ve been trying a quieter version.
Ship small, ship often
The unit of progress isn’t the launch — it’s the commit. Small, frequent, finished things compound in a way that grand reveals never do. A tool that does one thing well today beats a platform that might do ten things next quarter.
Consistency over intensity
Intensity is a sprint you can’t repeat. Consistency is a pace you can keep for years. I’d rather write one honest paragraph most days than a viral thread once a month.
The work that lasts is rarely the work that trended.
Let the artifact do the talking
You don’t have to narrate every step. Make the thing, write down what you learned, and let people find it. Quiet building still happens in public — it just trusts the work to carry the message.

- Permission to build things that only a few people will ever need.
